An image with no caption

An image with no caption floats to the right and keeps its alt text.

The image on this page has no caption and no id, so it gets no figure number:

![](badge.png){.wrap-right width="20%" fig-alt="A round blue badge with the letter w"}

Result

A badge, a logo, or an icon often has no caption and no number. This section uses one such image, and this paragraph comes before it, so it runs the full width of the text.

A round blue badge with the letter w

An image with no caption wraps in the same way as a captioned figure. The class .wrap-right puts it on the right, and the text flows on its left. The image is 20% of the text width, so the text beside it keeps most of the line. A small image like this one suits a logo or an icon at the start of a section. The image has no number, so the text cannot point to it with a @fig- link. The width attribute sets only the width, and the height follows from the image’s shape, so this square image is as tall as it is wide. Because the image is short, the text passes its bottom before the end of this paragraph, and its last lines run under the image, at the full width of the text. In HTML and Word, the fig-alt attribute gives the image its alt text, which a screen reader reads in place of the image. In a PDF, alt text needs a tagged PDF (see the format pages).

A heading is not a paragraph, so wrapping stops before it.
